The doctrine of the Ancient Mysteries is based on the feminine principle of the Goddess, symbolizing the sacred cycle of birth, death, and regeneration, embracing not only human life but all existence on Earth and in the cosmos. The cult of the Divine Mother dates back to ancient Europe, and its symbols and teachings permeate the art and architecture throughout the Mediterranean: from Egypt to Mesopotamia, from ancient Greece to Etruria, Crete, Sicily, and Sardinia. Despite the encounter with Indo-European religions and the fusion with new androcentric civilizations, the tradition of the Mysteries has been passed down from generation to generation, a thread that runs through history and has left an indelible mark on humanity's cultural and ritual traditions.

Over the centuries, however, humankind has lost that original connection with its divine nature, and at the same time, the Earth has also become sick. Its continuous exploitation and the undeniable climate crisis have compromised its ability to regenerate. To recover this connection, it is necessary to reclaim our spiritual sovereignty and initiate a process of deep healing that frees us from the diseases of our time, born from patriarchy and capitalism.

In this context, the work of Alessandra Di Gesù, guide and priestess of the Ancient Mysteries tradition and shaman of the Mediterranean tradition, takes place. Together with her husband Federico Luglio, a shaman of music and ecstatic music producer, she founded The Arcana Society: an international spiritual community dedicated to transmitting the Mysteries and the cult of the Goddess through retreats, travels, and an initiatory school with the goal of helping people plant the seeds of the forgotten inner paradise and live it here on Earth.

Alessandra teaches the way of the Ancient Mysteries and the divine feminine, the path of the soul to rediscover its divine essence through the experimentation of the senses. For her, being a shaman means acting as a tuner of musical instruments: she identifies the "out of tune" strings in people and contexts and brings them back into harmony. Her role is that of a bridge between different planes of consciousness, to maintain or restore well-being and health in humans and on the planet. Federico’s role is to accompany the shamanic journey with the sound of crystal bowls and the creation of music for singing and dancing.

This reportage is the testimony of an ongoing search. In a moment of personal pain, I questioned how others faced suffering and the sense of helplessness. I found myself in an infernal mental state of anger, fear, and despair, a place of punishment where I had already been admitted without even dying. In this scenario, there were also all the people around me, victims of beliefs, rules, and imposed customs. I realized that every human being is at the mercy of an inner war, generated by the struggle between the authentic self and the collective amnesia that surrounds us. My work aims to offer a point of reflection, an invitation to remember who we truly are and to explore an ancient tradition that provides practical tools to rediscover balance and meaning in our existence.
